Our Founder

Shaikh Abdul Khaliq Tariq, born in the 1930s in Anni Shareef, Punjab, Pakistan, initially aspired to become a pilot and pursued secular studies in mathematics, physics, and astrology. However, due to weak eyesight, he could not join the pilot school and instead turned to Islamic education, inspired by a desire to improve the lives of rural imams. After graduating from Madinah University in Saudi Arabia, he was sent by the Saudi government to Uganda in the late 1960s. Arriving in 1969, he began teaching Islamic religion and, by 1971, settled in Jinja, dedicating himself to building mosques and educational institutions for the Muslim community. Despite losing his sight in the 1970s, Shaikh continued his mission with unwavering dedication, earning deep respect and the honorary title of "Kakaire" from one of Uganda’s most prestigious tribes. Known widely as Shaikh Abdul Khaliq Tariq Kakaire, he also played a significant role as a devoted guardian to many children and families. After serving the Ugandan Muslim community for over 50 years, he passed away on October 15, 2021, leaving behind a powerful legacy that continues to inspire and guide future generations. May his soul rest in peace.
