Students Participate in Annual Qur’an Recitation and Leadership Camp

Bugembe Islamic Institute recently hosted its Annual Qur’an Recitation and Leadership Camp, bringing together students for a week of spiritual growth, learning, and personal development. The event aimed to strengthen students’ connection with the Holy Qur’an while nurturing essential leadership qualities rooted in Islamic values.

Throughout the camp, students participated in Qur’an recitation sessions, tafsir discussions, and competitions designed to enhance their understanding and appreciation of the Qur’an. The camp also included leadership workshops, group activities, and motivational talks that focused on discipline, teamwork, and responsibility — qualities that are vital for both academic and personal success.

Teachers, scholars, and guest speakers guided the participants, emphasizing the importance of balancing religious devotion with strong moral character and leadership in everyday life. The atmosphere was filled with unity, respect, and enthusiasm as students engaged in meaningful discussions and reflected on their roles as future leaders of the Muslim community.

Parents and community members praised the initiative for creating a platform that combines spiritual enrichment with practical life skills, preparing students to lead with wisdom, empathy, and faith.

As the camp concluded, participants expressed gratitude for the opportunity to learn and grow in an environment that fosters both Islamic knowledge and personal excellence.

Bugembe Islamic Institute continues to inspire its students through programs like these, shaping a generation of faithful, confident, and visionary young leaders.

About Bugembe

Bugembe Islamic Institute, founded in 1971 by Sheik Abdul Khaliq Tariq in Jinja, began as a primary school offering both Islamic and secular studies. With land donated by the Uganda Muslim community and funding from King Faisal, it expanded into a large institute featuring farms and vocational training. Over the years, it broadened its reach with Musubi Islamic Institute, outreach centers, and programs for out-of-school youth. The institute’s mission is to produce self-reliant Ulama and Muslim professionals while actively engaging in education, community service, and Islamic propagation.
